The New Reality: A Hostile Takeover

The episode began with a chilling new reality. A narrator announced that Rexy Inkiostro now owns a 67% controlling stake in the Cannon, making him the new majority owner! The crew then read a memo live on air from Rexy, stating that this was not a sponsorship but a "controlling interest" and that all creative content—from show topics to guests—now requires his final sign-off. He then made his presence felt, interrupting the show live to declare that "Slab Decks" is dead, and CNGO is the only sponsor allowed, warning Joe to never "try a stunt like that again".

This week, Judge Dan brought the heat with his pick: a gothic horror tale starring Captain America and the Falcon! In this 1979 issue, the heroes face off against the sinister Baron Blood, a vampiric Nazi with ties to Cap's past. Written by Roger McKenzie with art by the legendary Sal Buscema, the story forces Cap to reckon with the lingering shadows of World War II in a classic blend of superheroics and horror.

The Big Beef soldiered through the corporate chaos, delivering the week's biggest news.

  • Superman Soars: Superman continues its massive run, officially crossing the $600 million mark at the global box office.

  • DCU Video Games: In huge news for gamers, James Gunn confirmed that video games that are canon to the DCU are in the early stages of planning.

  • New Spider-Man Casting: It was announced that acclaimed actor Tramell Tillman has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with the crew immediately speculating he could be playing Norman Osborn.

SPECIAL GUEST: Chris Killian & Andrew Sanders

Cannon alumnus and professional comedian Chris Killian joined us, along with his brother and co-writer Andrew Sanders, to talk about their explosive new project: a Spawn Christmas special!

  • The Pitch: The two revealed that the idea for "I Saw Santa" came from a holiday slasher screenplay challenge Andrew was working on, which Chris then pitched directly to Todd McFarlane. The premise is a dark, two-issue story about a serial killer who blames Santa for his tragic childhood and leaves a murdered family for him to find on Christmas Eve.

  • The Details: The book is a "love letter to Spawn fans," packed with deep-cut lore and Easter eggs. The art by Thomas Noik is so intense that their first colorist passed on the project because it was "too violent". The first issue's Final Order Cutoff (FOC) is November 3rd, and it hits shelves on November 26th.

Did You Know? Hawkgirl Has Many Origins?

Following her appearance in Superman, the crew dove into the complex history of Hawkgirl. Before the modern Kendra Saunders, there was Shiera Sanders, the Golden Age heroine reincarnated alongside Hawkman, and Shiera Hall, the Silver Age Thanagarian warrior. The Kendra Saunders version, introduced in 1999, has a much more tragic backstory: her body was possessed by the soul of her ancestor after a suicide attempt, making her a reluctant hero haunted by memories that weren't her own.

Judge Dan's Ruling: Fantastic Four #166 & #167

Judge Dan dropped another fantastic ruling, highlighting two affordable Bronze Age books: Fantastic Four #166 and #167. These issues feature a classic Thing vs. Hulk throwdown and are, in his opinion, great long-term spec books that are also just fantastic stories to have in any collection.
