TL;DR

This was, without a doubt, the wildest episode in Cannon history. We finally had the much-hyped interview with our new sponsor's CEO, Rexy Inkiostro, and Naomi blew it by calling him "Rex," possibly costing us billions. We also got a “leaked photo" of Joe stealing comics from an orphanage, Josh got booped with his own shirt, and we somehow managed to talk about some actual comic book news.

DISASTER!

The Interview That Broke the Cannon

The main event of the night was Naomi's massive, exclusive interview with Rexy Inkiostro, the enigmatic CEO of our new sponsor, CNGO (Comic Nerds Geek Out).

After a dramatic intro video detailing his family's legacy in the ink industry and his own journey from boy-band member to F1 driver, Rexy laid out his vision to "optimize the voice of the rebel nerd". It was going great... until Naomi committed the one act she was explicitly warned against: she called him "Rex".

Rexy immediately walked out, his Chief of Staff declared he would make our lives a "living hell," and the entire sponsorship was thrown into jeopardy. While the sponsorship is technically still active, the future is uncertain. Thanks, Naomi.

This week, The Judge suggested we highlight the 20th-anniversary issue of Marvel's first family from 1981. In this classic story, Dr. Doom traps the team in a fake reality where they live normal lives without powers or memories. Written and drawn by the legendary John Byrne, it's a fantastic, oversized issue that showcases the humanity and unbreakable bond of the Fantastic Four. And as Joe pointed out, it even features a Stan Lee cameo on the cover!

News & Rumors with The Big Beef

The Big Beef somehow managed to deliver the news amidst the chaos.

  • Peacemaker is a HIT: The first five episodes of Peacemaker Season 2 have dropped for critics, and the show currently holds a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated DCU project yet.

  • Gunn's Next Superman Film: James Gunn confirmed he will write and direct the next film in the "Super Family" saga. It's rumored to be a Superman/Supergirl/Krypto team-up with Brainiac as the potential villain.

  • DC's New Team-Up: A new comic series was announced that will team up Batman Beyond and Static, two fan-favorite heroes from the animated universe.

  • Spawn's Christmas Special: In a story first broken on the Cannon, it's now official! Friend of the show Chris Killian is co-writing a Spawn/Santa Claus Christmas story with Todd McFarlane. You can pre-order I Saw Santa at your local comic shop now.

  • R.I.P. Terrence Stamp: The crew paid their respects to the legendary actor, who passed away at the age of 87. He was iconic for his roles as General Zod in Superman II, Chancellor Valorum in Star Wars, and so much more.

Did you Know? DC Didn't Create Peacemaker

That's right! Before he was a DC star, Peacemaker was a Charlton Comics character, debuting in Fightin' Five #40 in 1966. He was Christopher Smith, a man so dedicated to peace that he would use extreme violence to achieve it. When Charlton Comics folded in the early '80s, DC bought up their characters, including Peacemaker, Blue Beetle, and Captain Atom, and integrated them into their universe.

Cannon Questions: The Value of Signatures & Batman Keys

The community brought some fantastic questions this week. When asked about the rising value of autographs, Joe explained that for most comic creators, a signature adds very little monetary value; its true worth is in the memory of meeting the artist. The crew also gave their picks for Batman keys under $100 with the most upside, suggesting the first appearances of the non-Dick Grayson Robins (Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne) are smart, affordable buys with huge potential.
